Online Help Translation
Compiling translated online help, whether WinHelp or HTML Help, is more complicated than translating a file and clicking the "Save and Compile" button.
Every language - especially bidirectional (Hebrew, Arabic, Farsi) and double-byte (Japanese, Chinese, Korean) languages - has its quirks and idiosyncrasies, and we know how to deal with them. We have extensive experience translating and compiling Online Help in all European, Cyrillic, bidirectional and double byte languages.
Meridian's Online Help experts start by analyzing your source files. We evaluate them and spot the areas which are likely to cause problems during the translation and compilation process. We then work with you to modify your source files, in order to avoid those pitfalls.
After compilation, Meridian's Quality Assurance department tests the translated Help files on each language's native Operating System. We review the .hlp files topic-by-topic, to ensure that all pop-ups, links, buttons and hotspots function, and that the formatting is perfect. We make the detailed layout adjustments that are needed due to the increased word and sentence length of many languages (as compared with the source). We carefully edit the .cnt files to ensure that no topics are missing at runtime, even though they appear in the .cnt file (common in certain languages - e.g. Greek).
After the QA stage, Meridian's engineers re-integrate your localized Online Help files into your software, carefully verifying them for accuracy and consistency. The results are translated, compiled, QA'd and integrated Online Help files delivered to you within budget and on time.
